USER PROFILE
My site is intended for high school students learning Microsoft Office, grades 6-12. Such courses include, but not limited to Business Information Management (BIM), Keyboarding, and IC3 (Internet and Core Computing Certification). Parents of students and the community will also have this resource available to them to utilize.
CHECKLIST / SCRIPT
For the checklist we used the CyberSmart Curriculum Lesson Plans for rating websites as a reference: (Grades 6-8)
FEEDBACK
My test subjects were students in my current BIM class from my school, grades 9th and 10th. The students enjoyed exploring my site, which they loved how easy it was to follow. Students stated that “it’s a lot easier to see what assignments we have to do”. Students also liked the fact that they could see assignments and lessons online, which will allow them to complete work that they were not able to finish during class time.
Students mentioned that the content of the site was actually in more detailed than the book we used for the class. They thought the site did not include “stuff” that they didn’t need, in other words less text to read.
The students enjoyed the images and videos used on the site. They thought they were interesting and a change from the normal books without any images and plain black and white text. The size of the text was good for them and images were clear enough to read.
CHANGES
The checklist that we chose required more detail about the author of the site. Even though my students know who I am, it would be a good idea to include an about me page for those who are not familiar with me. Other than that, the students are happy with the site and I am as well, but will continue to make adjustments along the way.
